PROJECTS
This is a project that began in December 2020 with found leaves at the Deerfield Beach Arboretum. I was on the move then, getting out of South Florida to make it to North Carolina. The leaves were painted in hotel rooms and stored. Once I rented a room in Chapel Hill, I mounted the leaves on heavyweight, acid free paper and protected them with clear coat. I painted the paper around the leaves, but presenting them on just the paper didn't feel right. Then I had to move to another room and got the change to finish the project. It took a lot of dedication to protect the work with all of these transitions in my life. Finally I decided it needed to be mounted on a square block. Instead of buying a wooden block, I upcycled the product box of this brand of toothpaste I was using to help me sleep better. The images show the product box being prepared and glued shut and left to set with rubber bands. - Pamir Kiciman
